Halfway thru blog tour for God’s Banker. Since this is my first blog tour, here are my thoughts and observations on its value:
- Of the first 10 blog stops, only two failed to mention God’s Banker.
- The blogosphere is composed mostly of responsible individuals either with something to say (seldom) or something to sell (frequent).
- I won’t mention the two deadbeats by name, but they had promised to post either a book review, synopsis or interview with me but didn’t
- Does a blog tour help authors sell more books? Just a second, let me check…No.
I am not disappointed. Frankly, I had no expectations that God’s Banker would again rise up Amazon’s best seller list just because 20 bloggers featured the book. Sales were never the reason for this marketing campaign. I believe the book is really entertaining and I simply want to tell my friends a great story.
Actually, the best way I’ve found to get people to buy the book is to let them know a little something personal about me. See my candid video about the writing life. After all, I’m asking them to spend a few hours with me and grant me the privilege of telling them a story. I find that people are far more agreeable to that proposition if they know who is doing the asking. So, I’m never shy about sharing my background, ambitions, worries and life as a working writer with those who ask. Selling books seems to be like selling anything else: First the buyer must trust you and believe what you say about your product. In the case of God’s Banker, it’s a trade between granting that most valuable of liesure time to the exclusion of all other entertainment forms competing with that block of time.
So far those who have granted me that block of valuable time tell me it was a good investment. God’s Banker has received four and five-star ratings. Still not convinced? Take a look at the God’s Banker trailer. Then go to any of the eBook platforms (Amazon and Smashwords, for instance) and pick up a copy in either digital or hard copy form and find out for yourself.
